Herbert E. "Earl" Mosby, 78, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Alton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born on February 13, 1946, in Alton, IL the son of Gilbert M. and Mildred (Young) Mosby.
Earl married Mary Kay McGinnis on August 4, 1995, in Alton, IL and she survives.
Earl had worked at the Alton Boxboard factory as a Boilerman for many years. He then worked as a courier for Lab Corp. driving nearly 200 miles a day He enjoyed mowing and gardening and would spend hours reading his Kindle. He and his wife, Mary Kay, spent many hours antiquing together. Earl was well known for his singing ability and sang in church choirs and other groups. In addition to his wife, Mary Kay; he is survived by five children, Herbert and Kim Mosby Jr. of E. Alton and family, Heather and J.D. Wilson of Godfrey, Marissa Bottens of Alton, Bethany and Todd Henry of Lincoln, and Tirzeh and Frank Delsing of Bellbrook, OH; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Colleen, Kaitlynn, Niccolas, Brianna, Noah, Haven, Kaiden, Kaori, and Kenzhi; three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Hazel and Autumn; and many other relatives and friends,
Earl is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Marvin.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church of Alton 760 Washington Ave. Alton, IL 62002 with Pastor Jim Johnston officiating.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Hospital for Children or to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
