Helen Louise Crawford, 91, departed this life on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in her sleep, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 15, 1925 in Eldorado, IL, she was the daughter of William F. and Muriel I. (Williams) Stephenson.
She married Ralph N. Crawford July 30, 1945 in East Alton. They were happily married a few days short of 55 years until his death in July, 2000.
She enjoyed family, friends, and water skiing—being an original member of the Alton Ski Pals, playing golf up into her 80’s, and playing cards and going out to eat with friends.
Survivors include a brother, James (Mary) Stephenson of Bethalto; two sons, Terry (Mary Ann) Crawford of Wood River and Tim Crawford and his companion Lori Johnessee of Glen Carbon; two grandchildren, Brian Crawford of Wood River and Wendy (Dan) Trueblood of Georgia; five great grandchildren, Ashley, Jaxson and Parker Crawford and Gabe and Owen Trueblood; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William, Robert and Jerry Stephenson.
As per her request, visitation and services will be private.
Memorials may be made to East Alton United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
