Harold Dugan

Harold W. Dugan, 90, passed away on July 7, 2025 at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra.

Born Sept. 27, 1934, Wayne attended Carlinville High School. Raised in Plainview by his parents, Wilma (Eggers) and Harold Dugan, he went to work for Owens-Illinois Plant 7 in 1952. While working in the Decorating Department, he met the love of his life, Juanita Cuellar. They were married on Dec. 23, 1954 in Jerseyville.

Wayne went into the apprenticeship program in 1960 and became a journeyman machinist in 1962. He and the family moved from Plainview to Brighton in 1962 and Wayne went to work at Owens-Illinois Machine Manufacturing in Godfrey. He worked there until his retirement in 1992, ending his 40-year career with Owens-Illinois.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, brother Chuck Dugan and sister-in-law Sue Dugan.

He is survived by a daughter, Cathy (Cy) Austin; a son David (Sue) Dugan; three grandchildren, Heather (Sonny) Cummings, Chad Austin, and Sarah (Joe) Martin, who was Grandpa’s special buddy since Day One; six great grandchildren, Savannah, Wilson, Logan, Mercutio, Sylvia, and Heather Renee; four great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Irene and Bob Gill; nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 11 at Paynic Home for Funerals. Per Wayne’s wishes, he was cremated and he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at a later date.
