Gordon Clark

Gordon Earl Clark, 94, passed away at 3:45am on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at his residence. He was born on June 4, 1929, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late Clarence and Madonna (Neukom) Clark. He married the former Helen Stott on April 7, 1956, in Nashville, Indiana, and they were blessed with sixty years of marriage before her passing on July 10, 2016. He was also preceded in death by two sons: Gerald Clark and Kevin Clark. Survivors include his loving companion and best friend of six years Mildred “Millie” Robinson of Brighton, three daughters: Karen Giles of Punta Allen, Mexico, Rhonda Clark of Bethalto, Regina Stewart and her companion: Keith Hall of Brighton, two sons: David (Sherry) Kyle of Clare, Michigan, Brian (Sharon) Clark of Alhambra, eleven grandchildren: Amy (Jason) Fischer of Germantown Hills, Dustin (Shannon) Willard of Hampton, New Hampshire, Erin (Matt) Scheibel of Highland, Sam Clark of Highland, Trisha (Brandon) Weekley of Aviston, Jason (Robyn) Kyle of Jenison, Michigan, Sean (Toni) Kyle of Conway, Arkansas, Maynard Miller of Destin, Florida, Matt Miller of Marathon, Florida, Michelle (Jason) Foster of Mission Viejo, California, Daniel (Jessica) Giles of San Antonio, Texas, twenty-one great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many other extended family and friends.

Gordon was employed as a claims manager for State Security Insurance Company at the Edwardsville branch, and he worked for several companies during a long career in insurance. He was a proud member of the United States Navy and served on the USS Harmon in 1946. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. He and Millie attended many churches including St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton. Gordon’s friendly smile and quick wit made him made him a friend to everyone he met.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Private services were held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
