Georgia Kelly

Georgia I. Kelly, 91, of Bethalto, Illinois passed away January 20, 2024 under the loving care of Alton Memorial Hospice. Born July 5, 1932, she was raised in Alton, Illinois.  She attended Alton public schools and was an accomplished baton twirler and drum majorette.  Georgia enjoyed dancing, music, public television, theatre, crocheting, sewing, and was devout in her faith.  She worked for McDonnell Douglas for many years, and later retired from the State of Illinois. She is survived by her son David Curry (Grace) of Foster Township, Shelly Guzeldereli(Yasin) of Spring, Tx., and Shawna Tysse(Jon) of Beloit, Wi. Seven grandchildren: Jennifer Suessen(Aaron), Brian Curry, Patrick Curry(Chasity), Zeyne Guzeldereli, Taner Guzeldereli, Hannah Tysse, and Logan Tysse.  Seven great-grandchildren:  Luke Curry, Ella Curry, Reese Curry, Rylee Curry, Sophie Suessen, Gracie Curry, and Gabi Suessen. Memorials are suggested to 5A’s Animal Shelter, Nine PBS, or Alton Band and Orchestra Builders. A celebration of life will be held at The Woodland’s Golf Course 2839 Harris Ln, Alton, IL 62002 from 4-7 p.m. January 24, 2024.  Paynic Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements, with an online guestbook available at www.paynicfh.com.
