Georgia Crawford

Georgia B. Crawford was born on November 19, 1944. She was married to John A. Crawford for 60 years, he survives. She was the mother of four children, Curtis W. Crawford (Mary P.), Sarah Crawford Duncan, Nathaniel J. Crawford, and Joshua A. M. Crawford (Lindsay); and two grandchildren, Dominic and Mia Crawford.

Georgia was born in Tucumcari New Mexico and eventually her family moved east to Boston and thence to Colorado. After high school she met a somewhat dense fellow who was captured by her joy in life, twinkle in her eye and a subdued sense of humor. John was immediately taken by her humor, fun and free spirit. They were engaged and married in less than 10 months and were together for over 60 years. Together they hiked, skied, and explored, ghost towns and narrow-gauge railroads in the in Colorado Rockies for 10 years prior to their first child, Curtis. From that time Georgia and John, with guidance from her Mother, Martha and Father, William, (Bill) learned

As the family matured and the children grew and moved on to fulfill their lives, John and Georgia travelled again seeing Canada, the Northeast and again Colorado, New how to be a family. Mexico and places west. John & Georgia especially loved the Hispanic and Native American peoples and cultures. 

Diagnosed over 11 years ago with a slowly developing form of cognitive impairment. She was John’s constant companion and love of his life as he did volunteer work at a National Landmark in New Mexico and Colorado and always together traveled by railroad on many journeys.

With John at her bedside, Georgia passed in peace in the afternoon of July 8, 2025. John remarked “I learned how to love life in our years together and she will remain with me until I join her again.” 

Family and friends will gather to remember Georgia as the colors of early autumn Celebrate her Life.
