Frances Pauline (Phillips) Frazier, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour at 9:24 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026 at her residence.
She was born in DeWitt, Arkansas on April 16, 1939, the fourth of six children born to Clarence and Mildred (Woolsey) Phillips.
She grew up in Arkansas, and attended Lonoke High School in Lonoke, Arkansas.
Frances came to Illinois, where she met a Jerseyville boy, Thomas Michael Frazier, and the two fell in love. They married on May 19, 1956 at the Kerr Baptist Church in Kerr, Arkansas, and they shared nearly 35 years of a wonderful marriage and the blessings of raising their three daughters together, until his passing on January 12, 1991.
Frances worked for Jersey Community Hospital and later for the Jersey Community Unit School District 100 as a bookkeeper. She was a longtime member of Grace Community Baptist Church in Jerseyville, where her faith was an integral part of her life, sharing her love of music by singing in the church choir.
She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, beautiful singing voice, and the smile she so often wore. She also enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. During her daughters' growing up years, she lovingly sewed many of their clothes. She continued to share her talents throughout her life, giving away countless handmade crocheted and knitted gifts, including family names and dish rags, to family and friends.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lisa (David) Sterkenburg of Grandville, Michigan, Leigh Steckel of Carrollton and Leslee Frazier (Ty Jones) of Delhi; her six grandchildren, Erin Pargiello (Jeff Bolens), Thomas Sterkenburg (Haley Hansen), Brittany Sterkenburg, Lauren (Tim) Blanchard, David Steckel, and Brandon (Heather) Steckel; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Pargiello, Reese Blanchard, Ryann Blanchard, Emmy Steckel, Liam Steckel, Quinn Steckel and Rowan Steckel; a brother, James (Joan) Phillips of Neptune, New Jersey; a brother in-law, Jim McClanahan of Little Rock, Arkansas; a brother in-law, Jim (Peggy) Frazier of Brighton; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Elza McClanahan, Linda Mae (Chester) Bates, Betty Jo Foster, and Alice (Tony) Tarantino; and two of Tom's siblings, Sandy (Bill) Kuehnel and Dennis (Connie) Frazier.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at Grace Community Baptist Church in Jerseyville. Rev. Johnny Wooten will officiate.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the Grace Community Baptist Church or BJC Hospice.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of BJC Hospice for their kindness, compassion and loving care of Frances during her final days.
She will always be lovingly remembered as fiercely devoted to her family, as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
