Elliott Clark

Elliott K. Clark, 78, of Mitchell, Illinois passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his home.

He was born August 18, 1946, in Granite City, Illinois, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Louise (Phillips) Clark. Elliott married the love of his life, Brenda J. (Shemonia) Clark on May 29, 1965, in St. Louis, Missouri and she survives.

He retired from Arbison in St. Louis after 25 years of dedicated service as a military career counselor. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed his days of hunting and fishing, tending to his yard, feeding his birds and watching westerns.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three children, Evette (Thomas Paul) Shemwell of Pontoon Beach, Rodney Clark of Granite City and Tina Frasier of Granite City; seven grandchildren, Megan (Jonathan Foster) Thomas, Elliott “Joshua” (Jessica) Clark, Dustin Glasco, Tiffany (Adam McCormick) Shemwell, Cody (Mary Nichols) DePew, Jacob Shemwell and Rhomynn (Antonio Briagas) Frasier; six great grandchildren, Isaac Thomas, Logan Waters, Talon Foster, Landon Clark, Owen Glasco and Sebastian Glasco; two brothers, Modert (Helen) Clark of Dix, Illinois and Gregory (Rose) Clark of Granite City; three sisters, Mary Jo Hutchinson of Granite City, Jackie Brailey of Fairmont City, Illinois and Jody Robertson of Mitchell; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Lukas DePew; an infant brother, Rodney Clark; a sister, Judy Hutchinson; a brother-in-law, Gary Hutchinson and a nephew, Lenny Adams.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, with Reverend Chad Townsley officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
