Eddie "Jack" Edwards was born on August 3, 1945, in Tuscon, Arizona- son to Harriett (Kennedy) Edwards and William Edwards. He died on April 20, 2024. Jack was one of 10 children. Jack began his faith as an alter boy at the age of 7, where he attended St. Augustine Catholic Church. Jack relocated to Alton, Illinois and in 1965, he married Anita Armstead.
From their union, three children were born. Jack was proud of his life-long career with Ford Motor Company as a welder, where he retired after 36 years of service. Jack had a passion for hard work, his cars and family, especially his three daughters.
His was proceeded in death by his nine siblings, Beulah, Geniva, William, Florence, May, Mildred, Edith, Jeanette and Jimmy and his grandson, Erionne Ballinger. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Mia Rochelle (Edwards) Swisher, Dana Rickelle (Edwards) Ballinger and Jamie Renee Edwards. Also his grand-children: Jessica Holmes, Edward Holmes, Koraya Swisher, Erica Swisher, Ebony Musgraves, Aliauna Musgraves, Miles Musgraves, Paris Ballinger, Caleb Ballinger and Nia Ballinger, 16 great-grandchildren, a very dear friend, Martha Greene and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Cathy M. Williams & Sons Funeral Home, LLC, 1695 Oakwood Avenue, Alton, IL.
