Earl Richey

Earl “Sonny” Eugene Richey Jr., 91, of rural Medora, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

He was born on October 6, 1934, in Fieldon, the son of the late Earl Sr. and Alice (Kaufman) Richey.

Sonny married JoAnn Bomkamp on February 8, 1964, in Carlinville. She survives.

Together they have three children, Becky (Ed) Sers of St. Charles, MO, Joe (Lynn) Richey of Medora, and Ben (Amy) Richey of Medora; five grandchildren, Sarah Richey, Taylor Richey, Clayton Richey, Adam (Mattie) Smiley, and Bo Richey (Kailey Stark); one great grandson Easton Smiley; one sister Dorothy Richards.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Esther Searls, Doris Elliott, JoAnn Taylor, and Loretta Farrell.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of funeral service at noon, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Bethal Baptist Church in Jerseyville.

Burial will follow at Medora Cemetery.
