Earl C. Hibbs, Jr. 71, of Cottage Hills, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on October 16, 1953, in Alton, IL, the son of Earl C. and Dorothy E. (Wooten) Hibbs, Sr.
In Earl's younger days, he loved to go hunting, fishing, and BBQing with his friends and family. He became a caregiver for his younger brother, Jeff, for over 40 years. He dedicated his life and spent time taking care of Jeff. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." The Bible tells us this is only goodbye for now. Dear brother until we meet again in Heaven.
Earl is survived by sisters, Dorothy (Greg Moore) Lamkin of East Alton, Pamela (Dennis) Tucker of Bethalto; brothers, Gary (Jane) Hibbs of Cottage Hills, and William Hibbs of Edwardsville; many nieces and nephews.
Along with is parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Jacqueline Hibbs, Michael Hibbs, and Jeffery Hibbs; sister-in-law, Alice Hibbs; and a brother-in-law, Richard Lamkin.
Earl recently lost his younger brother, Jeff, a few months back. Rest in sweet peace, Earl. You are going to be missed by many.
A graveside service and inurnment will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Short Cemetery in Cottage Hills. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
