Born Nov. 14, 2005 in St. Louis, he was the son of Darin and Beth (Barnes) Abernathy.

He is survived and will be missed by his parents, Darin and Beth and his “other half”, his twin sister, Alyssa Abernathy; grandparents Gladys Abernathy, Rita Ford, and Jerry Gerard; great grandma Jackie Barnes; aunts and uncles Jill and Ben Allen, Jennifer and Bob Hunt, and Jerry Gerard, Jr.; cousins Kayla and her husband Aaron, Derrick, Savanna, Mackenzie, Aubrielle, and Trenton; many other extended family and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa Eugene Abernathy and grandma Gail Barnes.

A 2024 graduate of Civic Memorial High School, Drew worked at Castelli’s Moonlight Restaurant and was a member of Connect Church in South Roxana.  He was a “one-of-a-kind” guy who was always smiling, dancing and/or singing and could instantly change the mood in any room.  He was very athletic and played football, track and baseball for CM. Drew especially loved his family and hanging out with his friends. Anyone who knew him would be familiar with his huge collection of beloved hats.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at Cornerstone Church in Bethalto, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Civic Memorial Track, Civic Memorial Football, or Civic Memorial Baseball.
