Donna Kagy

Donna Rae Kagy, age 88, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville, IL. Donna was born on September 24, 1935, in Breese, IL, a daughter of the late Russell and Evelyn (Asbury) Gansmann.

On August 15, 1953, Donna Gansmann married Richard Earl Kagy, the love of her life in Mt. Vernon, IL. Donna was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was a faithful member of Clark Avenue Church of Christ in Granite City, IL. Donna was also a former member of Eastern Star and she volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital on the baby floor for many years. Donna was an amazing cook and she loved cooking delicious meals for her family. She also enjoyed word search puzzles and coloring in adult coloring books. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Donna will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a dear friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her sons, Ronald Kagy and Richard Kagy Jr; sister, Myrna Joyce Streicher; and by one granddaughter, Carrie Stewart

Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Kagy Sr. of Granite City, IL; dear daughter-in-law, Gloria Kagy of Granite City, IL; proud grandmother to five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Clark Avenue Church of Christ. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
