Denise Halcom
Bethalto | Save
Denise Ann Rebuck Halcom, 68, of Bethalto, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 25, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family.
Denise was born on November 3, 1957, in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, to the late Ira and Geraldine Rebuck.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Jeffrey Halcom; her children, Kaitlyn Schneider (Phil), Kody Halcom (Kristina), and Kalisha Halcom; her beloved grandchildren, Emma and Nora Schneider, Kolten and Kaden Halcom, who lovingly knew her as “Mimi.” She is also survived by four brothers and three sisters, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Craig Rebuck and David Rebuck; one nephew, Nathan Cluck; and one grandson, Jonah Schneider.
Denise was a graduate of the University of Valley Forge in Pennsylvania, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Following Bible college, Denise attended nursing school and worked as a nurse for 10 years. In her spare time, she baked cakes for all occasions including her siblings’ weddings and grandchildren’s birthdays. Denise was a stay at home mom for most of her kid’s childhood but eventually worked as a cook in a few local restaurants and eventually served as a teacher’s aide in the Bethalto School District. Denise was also a dedicated Christian, serving faithfully in the Church her entire life. Most recently, she served as a deacon of Bethel Church in East Alton. More than anything, Denise loved her family. Being Mimi to her grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a deep faith and a way of making people feel welcomed, cared for, and at home. Her family will always smile remembering the moments when a familiar song would come on while they were out together and Denise would happily say, “This was a hit when I was in high school!”, a line her children loved to tease her about and one that became a treasured part of family memories.
Denise leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, creativity, and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Denise’s life with a celebration of life service on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 5 pm, at Bethel Church, 480 E. Airline Drive, East Alton, Illinois, 62024. Pastor Ryan Roy will officiate. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
