Dean Schnurbusch

Dean Schnurbusch, age 68 of Pocahontas, IL, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL.

He was born on Tuesday, April 29, 1958, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Alvin and Harriet (nee Winschel) Schnurbusch.

On Saturday, July 24, 1982, he married Patricia L. Schnurbusch in St. Louis, MO, who survives.

Dean was a 1976 Bayless High School graduate. He worked for Southwestern Electric Company as a Senior Staking Engineer. Dean loved transforming his yard with his Christmas light display. He enjoyed planting his garden, playing card games and loved to BBQ. Beyond the backyard, Dean was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan during the baseball season and was a loyal supporter of the St. Louis Blues on the ice. At his core, Dean’s greatest joy was simply being surrounded by his family. He showed everyone around him what it meant to live generously, laugh often, and love unconditionally.

Dean is survived by his wife, Patricia L. Schnurbusch of Pocahontas, IL; children, Mary Watts of Belleville, IL, and Matt A. Schnurbusch of Godfrey, IL; grandchild - Bailey (Fiancée-Elissa Ervin) Watts; great grandchildren, Hunter, Decklan, Ziylyn, Axtyn and Lynlee; siblings, Dale Schnurbusch of Perryville, MO, Dan (Tracy) Schnurbusch of Granite City, IL, and Deb Schnurbusch of St. Louis, MO; sisters-in-law, Margaret Mecum and Gloria Barnes; and brother-in-law, John (Mim) Mecum.

He was preceded in death his parents, Alvin W. and Harriet H. (nee Winschel) Schnurbusch; brothers-in-law, Wes Mecum, Robert Mecum and James Mecum; and parents-in-law - Eugene & Gladys (nee Beherns) Mecum.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Funeral Service will be at 6:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
