David Ellis Johnson, aged 4 months and 16 days, passed peacefully after a difficult but brief battle with cancer at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on November 20, 2025.
He was born on July 4th, 2025 and was loved fiercely in his short life by his family.
He is survived by his parents Marcus and April Johnson; siblings Bella and Scarlett; grandparents Melissa Akers and Scott Akers, Craig and Kelly Johnson, Amanda and Robert Clark, Keith Wright Jr.; great-grandparents Sylvia Hitchings, Ruth Johnson, Wally and Janice Watkins, Billie and John Parker; aunts and uncles Logan, Tristan and Bo Johnson, Katie and Joe Shortt, Emily and Sadie Akers, Lindsey and Keith Wright III; and numerous great and great-great aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents David Johnson, Don Hitchings, Bill Charlton, and Vernon and Marie Prater, as well as a special cousin Rachel Slone.
A visitation will be held on Saturday November 29, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Gress Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin, with a graveside service to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hamburg.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at both St. John’s in Springfield, IL and Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO who took exceptional care of David and his family and treated David as their own. We will forever be grateful.
