Darrell Ray Sanders, 69, of Jerseyville, IL, passed away at 3:07 p.m. Thurs. May 21, 2026 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, IL.
He was born Oct. 23, 1956 in St. Louis, MO to the late Billie J. (Turnbow) Nelson and Garland F. Sanders.
Darrell was a self-employed construction contractor and could build about anything. He loved motorcycle riding and camping. He was also a great cook and loved to BBQ.
He is survived by a son, Russell “Rusty” Sanders, 4 grandchildren, Trent Sanders, Fallyn Sanders, Josie Sanders and Axel Sanders, a sister, Anita Smith, niece, Holly Babb, nephew, Dustin Justice, great-nephews, Maximus Justice, Zane Bartz, Zackery Babb, and Jackson Justice, and great-nieces, Jaida Justice and Maddilyn Babb..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Louise Sanders and 3 brothers, David George Sanders, Larry W. Sanders and Kenneth Sanders.
A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held at a later date at the home of his sister, Anita and will be announced on the funeral home website and shared via Facebook.
