Christopher Lewis Hancock (Maynerd), 46, of Bunker Hill, IL, died at Saint Louis University Hospital on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 9:58 am.
Chris was born January 28, 1980, in Alton, IL to Lewis (Bud) Hancock Jr & Rebecca A (Hanner) Hancock. He attended Bunker Hill Schools and graduated from Bunker Hill High School.
Chris enjoyed hanging with his friends, mushroom hunting and spending time with his dog Orrin. He was previously employed at Alton Steel. He was a favorite crane operator among his co-workers because of his excellent skills.
Surviving is his son River L. Hancock (mother Jammie Tomblingson), his father Bud Hancock (Debbie Schoen), brother Timothy L. Hancock (Cindy), nephew Timothy L. Hancock (Taylor Morgan), niece Dani Bielong (Brett), grandmother Valerie (Kay) Hancock, uncles Jim Hanner (Debbie), Mike Hanner, Kenny Hanner (Debbie), Roger Hancock (Christy), aunts Martha Sheldon, Barbara Tucker, Loretta Shepphard (Alvin), Tracy Moore (Paul), Christina Berkley (Randy Wells), Amy Scrivner (Eric) and many cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca A (Hanner) Hancock, grandparents Gene and Betty Hanner, Lewis W Hancock Sr, Dorothy Hancock and Richard Hancock.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm with funeral services to follow at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Bud Hancock.
