Christine Pluester

Christine V. “Tina” Pluester, 74, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born in Alton, the daughter of Alfred J. and Celeste (Pohlman) Pluester.

Tina was a graduate of Calhoun High School and Western Illinois University. She was a long-time 2nd grade teacher at Holy Ghost School in Jerseyville, retiring in 2015.

She was very active in her community, serving leadership roles in several organizations. She was a life member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #685 in Brussels and served as 20th District President in 1980. Tina was Secretary-Treasurer of Calhoun Historical Society and was active in the Calhoun Entertainment Company.

Tina was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and dear friend, Mark Caselton. She is survived by a sister, Joan Hartley of Divernon, nephews Robby and Andy (Michaela) Hartley, and a great niece and great nephew.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 26, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Meppen. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
