Charles L. “Tubby” Schobernd, 84, passed away at 12:05 am on January 7, 2017 at his home with family by his side.

Tubby was born on January 29, 1932 in Golden Eagle, IL., and was the son of Antone Schobernd and Wilhemina (Goetze) Wieneke.

Tubby was a welder for Northfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of St. Mathew’s church, and an American Legion member.

He is survived by his spouse Doris J. (Kress) and one daughter Lisa (Eric) Kallal, of Hardin; two brothers “the boys” Melvin ( Shirley) Wieneke, of Golden Eagle, and Gene “Honey” (Paula) Wieneke, of Golden Eagle; four grandchildren Molly, Tony, Lucy, and Charlie Kallal, of Hardin; and two adopted grandchildren Jessie, and Jonny Lorts. .

 

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister Romona Williams, and nephew Scott Wieneke.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday January 9, at Gress, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin. 

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday January 10, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Brussels with Jason Reed officiating.

Burial will follow at St, Mathew Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Calhoun Ambulance, Calhoun Alumni Foundation, or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
