Carol J. Garrett, 87, passed away at 1:50 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 24, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, to Harley and Elnore (Alger) James.
She married Arthur "Art" Garrett on April 17, 1971. They were married for over 50 years before he preceded her in death on August 6, 2023.
Carol was a member of Godfrey United Methodist Church and previously worked as a chemist for over 40 years with Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
Carol was a talented vocalist and performed with big bands on the St. Louis Admiral, was a member of a band named 3's a Crowd and sang in the church choir with her husband. She enjoyed solving word search and watching the Game Show Network. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and her two dogs, Annie and Kai were like family.
Carol is survived by a daughter, Dr. Christina (Thatcher) Levi; a stepdaughter, Carla (Dan) Abel; a stepson, Brian (Donna) Garrett; six granddaughters, Jessica (Cory) Rickard, Ashley Huether, Cera (Keith) Thorton, Alayna Abel, Hannah Abel, and Ellanore Levi; a grandson, Gabriel Levi, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews and many good friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Eugene James; two sisters, Lea Anna James and V. Elaine Pusczek, and a grandson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, 11:00 am at the Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis , Missouri, with Pastor Monica Jefferson officiating.
Burial will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
