Cara Lee Toombs, 78, of Rosewood Heights passed away peacefully at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Cara was born Nov. 28, 1937 in Fairfield, IL to Delos & Eula (Sizemore) Thomas.
She married the love of her life, James Arthur Toombs Jr. on Sept. 16, 1956 in Fairfield, IL. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2003
Cara is survived by 3 daughters, Julie Cummins of Wood River, IL, Elise (John) Kravanek of East Alton, IL and Amy (Joe) Patton of Wood River. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Kellie Cummins, Clay (Whitney) Cummins, Kristen Cummins (Ralph Perrone) and Anna Patton. Cara was able to spend time enjoying her great-granddaughter, Isla James Cummins, who gave so much happiness to her. No words can describe her love for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Lucy Bell. She was an avid Cardinal fan and did not miss a game on the radio.
Visitation will be at Paynic Home for Funerals Wed. June 8, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at which time a procession will leave for a graveside service at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
