Camilla Grace Laughlin, 94, died August 6 at her daughter's residence in Spokane, WA. For most of her adult life she was a resident of Granite City and Bunker Hill, IL.
She was born February 10, 1927 in Charleston, MO to Thomas Lee Walters and Fern Livengood.
She enrolled as an Army Cadet Nurse during WWII at Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis. In 1948, prior to graduation that year, she married Harry Donald Laughlin of Butler, IL. They enjoyed over 60 years together and had George Stanley Laughlin (Edna Berry), Stuart Ray Laughlin (Cindy Daniels), Steven Edward Laughlin (Alice Daniels), James Allen Laughlin (Wanda Coulter) and Donna Beth Robins (Thomas Meier). Grandchildren include Caitlin Laughlin, Jonathon Laughlin, Angela Laughlin Ash, the late Jason Laughlin, Joshua Laughlin, Amanda Laughlin, Steve Laughlin, Andrew Laughlin, Zachary Robins, and Alyssa Robins Frost. Step-grandchildren include Michael Laughlin, Alice Rea, and Jolene Miller.
In 1970 Camilla refreshed her R.N. at SIUE and went on to get her B.S. in Nursing in 1977. She retired from St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Granite City. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had many hobbies and talents some of which were sewing, oil painting, pottery, and genealogy.
Camilla was preceded in death by her husband "Don," her brother John Walters, and her sister Enid Kershaw.
Her visitation is at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill on Aug 19th, 4:00-8:00 pm with the Funeral Service Aug 20 at 10:30am at the funeral home. Burial will be at the family plot in Wares Grove around noon.
