Billie Sanna

Rosewood Heights |

Billie (nee Ward) Sanna was born in Sikeston, MO and departed this life on April 5, 2017.  Billie lived in Rosewood Heights for 58 years where she was often seen by passersby while mowing her yard or working with her flowers.  She was employed by the Army Corp of Engineers and worked at Lock and Dam No. 26 on the Mississippi River and later at Mel Price; she was often referred to as, “the dam lady”.  She demonstrated a strong work ethic and loved every day of it until her retirement in 1993.   Besides mowing the yard, Billie enjoyed traveling throughout the country with her grandsons and opening up their world to the wonders of nature, our nation, and reading.

Billie is survived by her daughter, Debra Denise (Sanna) Aiken and Tom Aiken of Ballwin, MO, her loving companion of 44 years, Robert Mesko of Rosewood Heights, grandsons Daniel (Katie) Aiken of Ballwin, MO, James Aiken of St. Louis, two great-grand sons and a great-grand daughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard V. Sanna in 1964, her brother Earl Ward, and sisters Ollie Atkinson Bilyeau, and Dorothy Maledy Maxey.

In accordance to her wishes, Billie was cremated under the direction of Paynic Funeral Home.  Friends may visit the family at Paynic Funeral Home in Rosewood Heights on Saturday, Apr. 8 between 1 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for a celebration of her life.
