Basil R. Maciolek II, age 54, of Collinsville, IL, born on August 2, 1971, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, died on April 6, 2026.
Basil worked as a computer programmer. He was a chef who was well-traveled and versed in the culinary world. He loved cooking without a recipe, made new dishes all of the time, also enjoyed trying new restaurants. A bookworm, Basil especially enjoyed reading horror stories, e.g., Clive Barker’s “Hellraiser.” He loved family get togethers, and was always witty, sarcastic and liked to poke fun at his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Elmer “EJ” Bach Jr; his grandfather, Francis Haney; and his sister-in-law, Stephanie Fears.
Basil is survived by his fiancé, Jennifer Haney, of Collinsville, IL; his stepchildren, Tiffany Haney and Lucas Haney; his mother-in-law, Tracey Bach of Waterloo, IL; his grandmother, Barbara Haney; his sister-in-law, Amanda Fears, and his nieces and nephews, Kane Fears, Bailey Fears, Blake Heniser, Kayla Heniser and Chelsea Fears. Basil is also survived by grandchildren and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL.
