Steinmann is a reading specialist for second and third grade students at Parkside Primary School in the Bethalto Community Unit School District #8. This Teacher Appreciation Week, she is grateful for the chance she has to help kids learn and watch them grow.

“I’ve always wanted to make a positive impact in the community in some way, and becoming a teacher was my way of doing that,” she said. “I love watching my students grow and improve. It’s a joy to encourage and celebrate their progress along the way.”

Steinmann knew early on in her own school days that she wanted to be a teacher. She was inspired by the elementary teachers who supported her when she was growing up.

These days, she is equally impressed by her colleagues. She noted that the “amazing” staff members at Parkside are all “dedicated to helping every student learn” and make her enjoy coming to school.

As a reading specialist, Steinmann works with kids who need some extra help learning how to read. She has found that some kids find reading not only challenging, but frustrating. She always serves as an encouraging presence and works hard to show them that they are “capable of doing hard things.”

In her free time, Steinmann loves being around her two young kids and husband. Unsurprisingly, considering her career choice, she also enjoys reading.

Steinmann will continue to support her students through their time at Parkside, but she noted that her love for them extends beyond their presence in her classroom. She is proud of the connections she has made and eager to see her students continue to gain skills and confidence as they grow.

“I love getting to know who they are and building meaningful connections,” she added. “I hope my students always remember that, no matter how much time has passed since they were in my class, I’m still rooting for them and am confident they’ll go on to do incredible things.”

Thank you to Mrs. Steinmann for your work as a teacher!
