Borden hit for six crucial points in a 48-43 overtime win over Staunton at Lucco-Jackson Gym on Feb. 3, and made some key defensive plays during the final part of regulation and in overtime. During a postgame interview, Borden felt the game was a must-win for the Tigers and was willing to work hard and do what was needed to be done.

"I just felt like we could have won the game, and I knew we had to win the game," Borden said. "We couldn't lose at home to Staunton, so I just had to come in and do what I did."

It was a very entertaining game where Edwardsville came up with the plays they needed near the end of regulation and in overtime to come away with the win. Borden was happy with the win, but also knew there was still much work ahead.

Borden's mindset going into the win against the Bulldogs was to focus on his role, and to do the things he was capable of doing to help the team.

"I try to just stay locked in on what I have to do, my job," Borden said. "I knew I had a job to do, so I had to just do it, and put my head down. It worked out."

Borden's job on the club changes from game-to-game, and it usually hinges on a defensive assignment.

"Today, it was chasing the best player," Borden said after the Staunton game, "and, obviously, I have to make shots to help our team, because we weren't doing so well going into the second quarter. So I had to help my team make shots and play defense."
