EDWARDSVILLE - Defender Thea Dimitroff signed recently to play soccer with Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo.

Thea is also Spencer Homes Female Athlete of the Month for the Tigers.
Dimitroff had a strong year for Edwardsville's girls' soccer team in 2025 and plays an important role in the back line. She will play a pivotal role in the 2026 Tigers' girls soccer success this upcoming spring.
New Edwardsville girls soccer coach Justin Bernaix, who will take the helm from Abby Federmann, has known Thea since she was a young player. He is excited to coach Thea once again on the Edwardsville varsity girls squad.
"I was able to coach her through some of those years when she was young," the coach said.
Bernaix believes Dimitroff will bring a high degree of skill and high sportsmanship to the Bears.
"Obviously, she has a lot of pace, quickness, ability to go after defenders one vs. one," Coach Bernaix said. "Also, she is a good kid, on and off the field, a good student, a good leader, and just all around, a good attitude. Like (Athletic Director) Amy (Boscolo) said tonight, a good sportsmanship award for the (Southwestern) Conference is quite an honor, so they're getting a good person."
