JERSEYVILLE - Amelia Jumper, a freshman cross country runner for Jersey Community Unit School District No. 100, qualified for the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Sectional meet. She also accomplished a goal of breaking 20 minutes at the 2A Cross Country Regional in Taylorville with a time of 19 minutes, 51.2 seconds.
Jumper, recognized as the Sparklight Female Athlete of the Month for Jersey, has shown strong performances throughout the season.

Jumper, the No. 1 runner on her team, set a personal goal at the start of the season to complete a race in under 20 minutes.
At the 2A Sectional meet in Mattoon on Nov. 1, 2025, she posted a time of 20 minutes, 17 seconds.
Earlier in the season, Jumper placed third at the Alton Invite for girls on Sept. 27, 2025, with a time of 21 minutes, 36.9 seconds. She also finished fifth at the CM Twilight Invite on Aug. 30, 2025.
Jumper has expressed a focus on enjoying the sport while aiming to improve her times.
She noted that she participates in track and field events. "I like the 400 and 800-meter races, and I hope to compete in relays in the future in track," she said. "I really enjoy cross country and running with the girls on our team."
