The River Dragons' Ryan Hartz.ALTON - The Alton River Dragons split two recent games, beating the Danville Dans 14-10 for their fifth win of the season before falling 17-5 to the Cape Catfish in the teams’ final matchup of the year.

Bryce Duszak.Against Danville at home, Alton got a quality start from Ben Barfield and a big night at the plate from Bryce Duszak. Barfield went six innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three. The outing was the second quality start by an Alton pitcher this season.

Duszak led the offense with three hits, including a grand slam in the fourth inning and a two-RBI single in the seventh. He also singled in the first inning. Duszak and Barfield were selected as the players of the game.

Ryan Hartz added a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Mac Floyd and James Linzmeyer also had three-hit games, with Linzmeyer driving in two runs and Floyd adding one RBI. Charlie Berry, Logan Studer and Brandon Gour each had a hit.

Floyd Hits Sixth Home Run In Loss To Cape Catfish

In the loss to Cape Catfish, Mac Floyd hit his sixth home run of the season, moving into a tie for fourth all-time in River Dragons single-season history. Floyd also had an RBI single in the fifth inning and finished with two RBIs.

Tristen Wargo had two hits and drove in a run. Logan Studer drew an RBI walk in the second inning and added a single in the fifth. Jake Ottensmeier, Griffin Kelly and James Linzmeyer had Alton’s other hits.

Hayden Wilson started for Alton against Cape and went five innings, allowing five runs. He struck out two and walked one.
