EDWARDSVILLE — Edwardsville opened its 2025-26 girls basketball season with a 57-40 victory over Hardin Calhoun on Monday night, Nov. 17, 2025, at Ringhausen Gym. The game also marked the debut of new Edwardsville head coach Kaylie Gudka.

The Tigers established an early lead, outscoring the Warriors 13-6 in the first quarter and extending their advantage to 26-13 by halftime. Edwardsville maintained control through the third quarter, leading 39-26, and finished strong by outscoring Hardin Calhoun 18-16 in the final period.

Journey Anderson led Edwardsville with 15 points, while teammates Gabby Cook and Kennedy Gieseking each contributed 12 points. Mia Semith added 11 points, and Kaylee Hauschild chipped in seven. For Calhoun, Sadie Kiel scored a team-high 15 points, followed by Gress with seven, Lammy with six, Longnecker with five, and Eberlin with three.

Edwardsville shot 22 two-point field goals, made three three-pointers, and converted four of nine free throws. The Tigers committed 20 fouls during the game.

With the win, Edwardsville improved to 1-0 on the season. Calhoun fell to 0-1.
