COLLINSVILLE — The McCluer North Stars edged the O’Fallon Panthers 43-40 in a tightly contested game Sunday at the Collinsville Holiday Classic.

McCluer North took an early lead, opening the game with a 17-9 first-quarter advantage. The Stars extended their lead to 25-16 by halftime and maintained control through the third quarter, leading 35-28 heading into the final period.
Despite O’Fallon outscoring McCluer North 12-8 in the fourth quarter, the Stars held on for the win. McCluer North’s largest lead came in the fourth quarter when they were ahead by 12 points.
The Stars shot 15 for 49 from the field, while O’Fallon converted 12 of 44 attempts. Terry Cornell led McCluer North with 17 points, followed by Terron Brooks with 10. Jamel Hawkins contributed defensively with three steals.
For O’Fallon, Ben Akoro scored 15 points and added three blocks, while Sutton Massey chipped in 13 points.
