COLUMBIA - Marquette Catholic High School’s boys basketball team defeated No. 8 state-ranked Benton 56-49 on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, in the Columbia-Freeburg Christmas Tournament in Columbia. The victory improved Marquette’s record to 10-4, while Benton fell to 11-2.

Marquette will face No. 9 Columbia, which holds a 9-2 record, in the championship game Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Columbia.

Chase Jones led the Explorers with 17 points, followed by Cameron Golike with 15 points and Carson Jones with seven against Benton.

Earlier in the tournament, Marquette secured a 78-50 win over Riverview Gardens. Chase Jones scored 18 points, Nolan Robinson added 16, Cameron Jones and Golike each contributed 13, and James Sehorn had 10.

Marquette also experienced a narrow loss to Seckman, 51-48.

In that game, Cameron Jones led the team with 13 points, Robinson had 12, and Golike scored eight.
