EDWARDSVILLE — Lucy Doyle, a sophomore at Metro East Lutheran High School has made significant strides in her cross country success, advancing to the IHSA 1A Sectional and State competitions. She is the Alton Road Runners MELHS Female Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Doyle recorded a personal best time of 18:59.7 in the three-mile race at the IHSA 1A Sectional held at Trenton-Wesclin, finishing ninth. She placed sixth at the regional meet at Trenton-Wesclin with a time of 19:32.0 and finished 99th at the state meet with a time of 19:11.8. Earlier in the season, she secured second place in the Granite City Invite Junior Varsity race with a time of 20:18.7 and finished fourth at the Highland Invite, clocking in at 19:56.7.

Kevin Reiseck, the MELHS High School girls' cross country coach, praised Doyle’s progress, saying, “She has put in a ton of work to improve.”
