ALTON — The Alton Lady Redbirds dominated from start to finish in a 70-25 victory over the Collinsville Lady Kahoks Thursday night at Alton High School.

Alton took an early lead, jumping out to an 18-6 advantage after the first quarter. The Lady Redbirds extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Collinsville 26-4 to take a 44-10 lead into halftime.
Defensively, Alton continued to stifle Collinsville in the third quarter, allowing just one point while pushing their lead to 64-11. With the game well in hand, Alton removed their starters in the fourth quarter, during which Collinsville outscored Alton 14-6 under a running clock.
Alton coach Deiondre Riney said, "We came out ready to play. We started sluggish at first, but got it together. They are workhorses; they come out to work and compete."
Ja'Kayla Steen led Alton with 14 points, followed closely by Kaylea Lacey with 13 points. For Collinsville, Karley Call scored 10 points, and Karly VanDyke added five.
