PIASA - Jersey placed five runners among the top 11 finishers to win the boys varsity team title at the Southwestern Invite with 31 points, while Southwestern senior Thor Springman won the 3-mile race in 15 minutes, 50 seconds.

Jersey boys won with 7 points; Southwestern boys had 11 and Litchfield 12 points.
Jersey’s Kaden Strohbeck led the team in third place overall with a personal-best time of 16:18. Will Green finished seventh in a personal-best 16:40, followed by Dylan Green in ninth at 17:10, Luca Derrick in 10th at 17:21 and Zane Grummel in 11th at 17:26. All three also recorded personal bests.
Springman finished six seconds ahead of Carrollton junior Andrew Price, who ran a personal-best 15:56 to take second. Southwestern sophomore Chase Kallal placed fourth in 16:23, and Litchfield junior Lukas Paine rounded out the top five in 16:25.
Nokomis junior Maddox Dewerff finished sixth with a personal-best 16:33.
Nolan Engstrom gave Litchfield a second top-10 finisher, placing eighth in a season-best 16:56. Fisher Ellis finished 13th in a personal-best 17:29, Jake Wilson was 14th in a season-best 18:02 and Dean Gibbs placed 17th in 18:19 to complete Litchfield’s scoring group.
Southwestern’s Easton Pruiett finished 16th in 18:13.
Marquette Catholic sophomore Ethan Elliott placed 12th with a personal-best 17:27, while Vandalia freshman Owen Goodman finished 15th in a personal-best 18:04.
Litchfield’s Atlas DeWitt took 18th in 18:21, Carlinville’s Drake Peterson finished 19th in 18:29 and Litchfield’s Connor Engstrom placed 20th with a personal-best 18:38.
