JERSEY - The JCHS boys' bowling teams and JCMS basketball squads both recorded notable performances on Wednesday and Thursday night in separate contests.

At Bowl Haven in Alton, the Jersey Community High School boys varsity and junior varsity bowling teams faced off against the Southwestern Birds, securing decisive victories.

The varsity Panthers posted a commanding 2,743 to 1,873 win. Hayden Longley led the team with a high game of 258, followed by Clark Blasa’s 236 and Jacob Hetzel’s 234.

In series scores, Hetzel topped the group with 632, Longley posted 596, and Aaron Hughes contributed 595. The JV Panthers also prevailed, defeating Southwestern 1,599 to 1,108. Wyatt Wagonblast led the JV with a 205 game, while Raymond McElligott and Gregory Sams added games of 168 and 167, respectively.

JCMS Boys, Girls Prevail; Eighth-Grade Girls In OT

Meanwhile, Jersey Community Middle School’s girls basketball teams hosted Roxana. The seventh-grade team on Thursday and secured a hard-fought 35-29 overtime victory, highlighted by Quincy Crotchett’s 13 points. The eighth-grade Panthers dominated with a 46-23 win, led by Harmony Jantzen’s 19 points.

The JCMS boys' basketball teams traveled to East Alton. The seventh-grade Panthers were defeated 60-32, while the eighth-grade team earned a 49-32 victory.
