ALTON - The 109th Alton Halloween Parade had a new, furry addition to its lineup this year.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, Powers Highland Haven and Harris Farm Highlands came together to walk with Children’s Tribe Montessori Academy from Godfrey. These organizations had several Highland cows dressed in costumes, making them one of the most popular groups in the Halloween parade lineup.

“We said we were going to count how many times we heard, ‘Holy cow, there’s a cow, and that’s a real cow.’ But I’ve already run out of fingers and toes. I’m done counting,” joked Amanda Powers with Powers Highland Haven.

Powers Highland Haven gets their cows from Harris Farm Highlands. They then take the cows to therapy, parties and weddings.

Powers and Melissa Walsh with Harris Farm Highlands have children who attend Children’s Tribe. They were eager to join the school in the parade this year.

The cows were good-natured in their costumes, and they received a lot of attention from kids and adults alike. Walsh and Powers agreed that they were excited to be a part of the Alton Halloween Parade.

“It’s awesome,” Walsh added. “I love that we are able to put all this together, and you guys are able to put all this together and have Alton come out and have fun.”
