"I am a play-making attacker, recognized for my speed, agility and creativity on the field," she said. "I have developed a powerful shot that is equally strong with both feet. Thompson, a speedy striker, was Edwardsville's leading scorer with 12 goals and two assists for 26 points to help take Edwardsville to a 14-4-3 record in 2024.

Gabby was a skilled varsity flag football player at wide receiver and defensive back this past season.

Coach Justin Bernaix believes Thompson will bring a high degree of skill to Kansas.

"She is a good and well-deserving of going to her school to continue her soccer career," Bernaix said. "I was fortunate enough to coach her when they were younger as well, so I probably had her since she was 8 or 9 years old."

Bernaix said he looks forward to Gabby playing in the spring of 2026 for him as coach of the Edwardsville Tigers girls soccer squad.
