EDWARDSVILLE - Senior Cameron Lowery, who transferred from Belleville West, led the way with 24 points, and did much of his damage in the first half as Mascoutah took a 60-52 boys basketball win over Edwardsville Tuesday night, Jan. 27, 2026, at Lucco-Jackson Gym.
The Indians played well throughout the game and came out on top.

“From the start of the game to the end, they played their butts off,” said Mascoutah head coach Cole Schomaker. “They competed well, they guarded hard, I can’t be happier.”
Lowery played exceptionally well for the Indians and earned special praise from his coach.
“They were in our zone, and Cam really played well,” Schomaker said. “He catches the ball really well, drives the ball hard, he's competitive, and he makes us better when he’s right. And he had the best game of his career. We couldn’t do it without him. He hit some shots, guarded so hard, and boxed out well. He was excellent. He was the key factor.”
It was definitely Lowery’s night to shine, and he’s a key player for a very young Mascoutah team, which has a plethora of freshmen and sophomores on its roster.
“Cam is arguably our most talented player,” Schomaker said. “There’s no doubt about it. He can do it all. He can shoot it, he derives it, he guards hard, and he competes well. There’s nothing he cannot do. And off the bench, he comes off with great energy. He was absolutely awesome tonight.”
The scoring behind Lowery was also a big factor for Mascoutah on the evening.
“For us to be successful, it can’t be one dude,” Schomaker said. “It’s got to be a collective. We don’t have that guy who’s going to go ahead and give you 30 (points) and get everyone. We had a collective, and we hit shots tonight. We shared the ball really well. I like the way we’re shooting the ball.”
Although the Indians played well, it wasn’t always easy, but Mascoutah did find a way to counter what the Tigers threw at them.
The Indians have their sights set on winning the Mississippi Valley Conference title, as well as doing well in the upcoming IHSA playoffs.
“We’d like to compete for our conference title,” Schomaker said. “Triad’s super tough, they’re very talented, they have everything they’ve got. Our conference is great, with plenty of good teams in it. The goal is to win the regional and get out.
"It’s going to be tough, with (East St. Louis), Mt. Vernon, and Centralia in our regional. But this team, we’re starting to click on some solid cylinders, and we keep getting better. But, we’ll see where we are.”
Mascoutah is now 14-9 and plays at Waterloo Friday at 7:30 p.m., meets Carbondale in a shootout at Pinckneyville Saturday at 12:30 p.m., and then hosts Belleville West next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
