EDWARDSVILLE - Miccah Butler led four players in double figures with 19 points as Edwardsville bounced back from a tough loss to Alton in a big way with a 92-41 win over Riverview Gardens of north St. Louis County in a non-conference basketball game Monday night, Dec. 16, 2025, at Lucco-Jackson Gym.
The Tigers had lost to the Redbirds 73-44 last Friday night, Dec. 12, 2025, and were determined to get back to work and fix things against the Rams. Edwardsville did just that.

"Our team really shot the ball well, with us making 15 threes," said Tigers head coach Dustin Battas. "All of them were assisted, which says a lot about the unselfishness of the guys. I thought we executed a lot of things well on offense and defense. This is a good group of guys, and they want to win, so they were eager to get back to work this weekend after the tough Alton game."
Although Riverview is winless so far this season, there are a few talented players on their roster, and they had the ability to cause Edwardsville some problems, which the Tigers handled very well.
"Riverview Gardens has a really good player in (Tyrique Collins-McIntyre)," Battas said, "and I thought our defense did a good job in making things challenging for them to score. We're trying to improve on our defense, and I thought the effort and attention to detail were better tonight. Now we look forward to preparing and having some good practices before a tough road game at Collinsville on Friday."

The Tigers eight threes in fhe first half, five in the first quarter, and four of them by Butler, in building a 32-15 lead after the first quarter, then allowed only four points each in the second quarter in taking a 52-19 halftime lead, and then going up 77-33 after three quarters, triggering the fourth quarter running clock rule. The Tigers then outscored the Rams in the fourth quarter 15-8 to get the win 92-41.
Butler led Edwardsville with 19 points in the game, while Rowan Weller had 15 points, Jalyn Nguyen had 12 points, Sire Borden scored 10 points, Brady Niemi scored nine points, Levi Wedel hit for six points, and Devyon Hill-Lomax scored two points.
Collins-McIntyre led the Rams with 20 points, while Kaiden Ford added 12 points, Codie Thompson had four points, Dymarion Caster scored three points, and Jesse Lamb hit for two points.
Riverview is now 0-5 for the season, while Edwardsville goes to 5-3, and plays at Collinsville on Friday night in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. The Tigers then open their defense of the Don Mauer Holiday Invitational title at Mary Institute-Country Day School in Ladue, Mo., Dec. 23, 2025, against Parkway South at 12 noon, and after the tournament, return to Southwestern Conference play against O'Fallon at home Jan. 6, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
