HARDIN - Illinois American Water has issued an immediate boil water order for about 400 direct water customers in the Village of Hardin because of improvements at the village’s water treatment plant.

Customers should bring tap water to a rolling boil for five minutes before using it for drinking or cooking, according to the utility. The order took effect immediately and will remain in place until testing confirms that water samples meet all drinking water regulatory standards.
