EDWARDSVILLE — Metro East Lutheran High School sophomore Lucy Doyle set a personal three-mile cross country record at the 1A sectional meet at Trenton Wesclin on Nov. 1, 2025, finishing with a time of 18 minutes, 59.7 seconds. Doyle also recorded a time of 19:32.0 at the 1A Trenton-Wesclin Regional on Oct. 25, 2025, securing her advancement to the state finals at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
Doyle’s season has been marked by steady improvement. She placed second at the Granite City Invitational on Sept. 6 with a time of 20:18.7 and seventh at the Madison County meet on Oct. 7, clocking in at 20:20.9.

The MELHS girls’ cross country team made its first appearance at the sectional meet since 2017, a milestone that reflects growth and dedication. Coach Kevin Reiseck expressed pride in Doyle and the team’s progress.
“This year, seven of our girls made it to the sectional," he said. "All of them put in a ton of work just like boys in summer to improve.”
Reiseck highlighted Doyle’s efforts and development this season.
“Lucy Doyle, a sophomore, is having a great year. She has worked really hard and improved a ton. I am looking forward to seeing her at the state meet,” he said.
The girls’ team’s return to sectional competition and Doyle’s personal achievements showcase a season of advancement for MELHS' cross country program. Now, Lucy is preparing for Saturday's state finals.
