ALTON - Alton’s early spark faded Saturday as the Redbirds couldn’t keep pace with Huntley in a 9-2 loss, despite a first-inning home run from Logan Hickman.

Huntley tied the game in the top of the fourth on a groundout by Tommy Gasner and an error, then took control in the fifth. Aiden Eickelman’s groundout brought in a run to break the tie, and Brady Klepfer followed with an RBI single as Huntley pushed its lead to 5-2.

Liam Nash earned the win for Huntley after allowing one hit and no runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked one. Soren Munson took the loss for Alton after giving up seven runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings, with one strikeout and one walk.

Anderson Kaufmann started for Alton and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk. Sean Dabe started for Huntley and gave up two runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one and walking two.

Hickman led Alton with two RBIs, going 1-for-4. Hayden Schepers, Hickman, Donavon Ducey, Kaufmann, Munson and Parker Cannon each had one hit for the Redbirds.

Huntley finished with 10 hits. Drew Borkowski, Eickelman and Joey Lengle had two hits apiece. Klepfer and Eickelman each drove in two runs.
