EDWARDSVILLE – Alton High grad Kiyoko Proctor has quickly adapted to her basketball surroundings at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Proctor delivered a career-high 26 points in a commanding 81-71 SIUE win over Indiana State. The Cougars held their lead throughout the game, with a 15-point advantage in the fourth quarter.

The Cougars improve to 3-1, while Indiana State falls to 2-3 overall.

This was the second time this season Proctor has led SIUE in scoring in a game. Proctor, only a freshman, shot 5-12 from the field and an impressive 13-15 at the free-throw line. Her final free throw in the fourth quarter pushed SIUE to its 67th point and ignited the Education Day Crowd on Tuesday night.

Graduate student Adebukola Akomolafe followed closely behind, adding a career-high 20 points to help power the Cougars' offense.

On the glass, Syanne Mohammed matched her career-high with nine rebounds, marking her second game as SIUE's rebounding leader. She also recorded a personal-best three blocks, the most by any Cougar this season.

SIUE controlled the game's key categories, outperforming Indiana State in points off turnovers (18-9), second chance points (15-12) and fast break points (17-10). The cougars shot 40 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free-throw line in the win.
