GRANITE CITY - Marquette Catholic's golf team was led by senior Hubert Allen with a 165 (86 and 79) in the Dick Gerber Invitational at both Wood River and Granite City locations over the weekend.
Edwardsville led a 22-school field to win the Dick Gerber Invitational, a two-day golf tournament held Friday, Aug. 28, at Belk Park Golf Course and Saturday, Aug. 29, at Legacy Golf Course.

Edwardsville finished first overall with a 567 team score, shooting 286 on Friday and 281 on Saturday.
MCHS placed 18th overall with a 663 team score. MCHS shot 345 in the opening round and improved to 318 in the second round.
Explorers' sophomore Sam Johnson finished at 167 with rounds of 88 and 79, and freshman Kaden Medford also shot 167 with rounds of 83 and 84. Senior Chase Pruitt finished at 168 with rounds of 88 and 80. Sophomore Tony Mathews shot 169, with rounds of 89 and 80.
Also listed for MCHS were senior Logan Sherman with a 93 and sophomore Noah Rose with a 78.
Participating schools were Edwardsville, St. Anthony, Normal University, Mater Dei, O’Fallon, Belleville Althoff, Pekin, Chatham Glenwood, Highland, Waterloo, Columbia, Alton, Belleville East, Collinsville, Father McGivney, Normal Community, Belleville West, Springfield, MCHS, Quincy, Mattoon and Roxanna.
