EDWARDSVILLE — Father McGivney Catholic’s boys basketball team faced a challenging group of established programs Friday and Saturday at the Edwardsville Showcase, where coach Cory Clouser said the event gave the Griffins valuable exposure to high-level competition.

The Griffins, who finished 19-14 in 2025-2026 under Clouser, opened play at 5 p.m. Friday against Kankakee at Edwardsville. McGivney also played Breese Mater Dei on Friday before concluding the event Saturday evening against Althoff Catholic and Oakville.

Clouser said the showcase allowed his team and program to measure themselves against strong opponents.

“It was definitely good to see such good competition,” Clouser said. “I saw where Kankakee had a 29-2 overall record last year, and we opened with them. They have a great Class 3A program.”
