O'FALLON - Both John Kudros and Landon Sitze had two hits and an RBI each, while Sitze also struck out 10 while on the mound as Alton Post 126's American Legion team defeated St. Jacob Post 665 5-3 in an early morning game of the Aviston Post 1239 tournament at Aviston Park.
The Legionnaires have now won four of their last six games, and are now 9-4 for the season with one game remaining in the tournament.

The Legionnaires scored three runs in the bottom of the first, and two more in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead, but St. Jacob scored three times in the top of the fifth to cut the lead down to 5-3. Post 126 shut the door from there, not allowing any more runs to take the win.
Kudros and Sitze led the way with their two hits and RBI apiece, while Ryan Lowis had a hit and RBI, and Abe Kribs, John Kunz, and Joe Stephan all had hits. Sitze pitched four innings and was credited with the win, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits, walking two and striking out 10, while Stephan pitched for two innings, allowing no runs on one hit, walking none and fanning two, and Tate Powell threw in the seventh, and was credited with a save, not allowing a run or hit, walking none and striking out two.
Post 126 returns home to Lloyd Hopkins Field at Gordon Moore Park against Elsberry, Mo. Post 226 Tuesday at 8 p.m. The Legionnaires then play in a tournament at Washington, Mo. Post 218 next weekend, playing against Terre Haute, Ind. Post 346 next Saturday at 3:30 p.m., then meeting Eureka, Mo. Post 177 at 5:30 p.m., then finish tournament play on June 28 against an opponent to be determined at 3:30 p.m.
