“Today, Governor Pritzker continued his eight-year pattern of taking more from taxpayers to fund a bloated, out-of-control budget that ignores the affordability crisis hitting hardworking families across Illinois.
“Since taking office, Governor Pritzker has helped balloon state spending to nearly $56 billion, a roughly 40 percent increase since 2019. That is not leadership. That is a complete failure to respect the people who pay the bills.
“Right now, Illinois leads the Midwest in unemployment and outmigration, and under this sort of leadership, these results will only continue: fewer opportunities, fewer employers, fewer good-paying jobs, and fewer reasons for families and young people to build their futures here.
“Illinois has tremendous resources, incredible communities, and some of the hardest-working people in the country. But time and again, those strengths are overshadowed by Governor Pritzker’s addiction to higher spending, higher taxes, and bigger government.
“Instead of making Illinois more affordable and more competitive, this budget doubles down on the same failed policies that have driven people, jobs, and investment out of our state.”
