Witnesses told police they saw a Hispanic male driving in the Cahokia Mounds parking lot between about 7:40 p.m. and 8 p.m., about an hour before the 911 call was made.

The vehicle was described as a small, older-model passenger car that was navy blue or dark blue and extremely loud. Witnesses said it sounded “like it was going to blow up.” Police said the vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on Collinsville Road after leaving the parking lot.

The Collinsville Police Department said it is seeking help identifying the infant and locating the person responsible for abandoning the child.

Police asked anyone who recognizes the infant’s description, the orange and white striped onesie, or the green and black Evenflo car seat to come forward. They also asked for information from anyone who knows of a Hispanic female who was recently pregnant and may no longer have her baby, or anyone who can identify a Hispanic male driving a small, older-model, navy blue passenger car that is extremely loud.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collinsville Police Department at 200 W. Clay, Collinsville, IL 62234, or call 618-344-2131.
